Happy St. Patrick's Day and Turtle Time!
A Helpful Nudge
If you've ever been to the Lake at the Shops at Legacy then no doubt you've seen the turtles sunning on the grate. I've never seen a turtle this big up there, Have you? He tried to get up on the grate twice and the second time a fellow friend tried to push him up. But it didn't happen. I don't know if they tried a third time but I was rooting for him. Thought this was a rather humanely gesture being a turtle...pretty awesome.

Spring has Sprung in Plano, TX

This time of year could go either way, cold or warm and we could have another Artic blast! Lets hope not. Today is perfect, 80, no humidity, slight wind, bright clear blue skies and 6 more days to officially spring. What are you doing tonight? Grilling? Outdoor patio dining? Family outing? Anyway, I think we'll all be outside enjoying the nice weather and having a Happy St. Patricks Day.

Kick Off the Holidays: Tree Lighting Festival at the Shops at Legacy
Are you ready for Thanksgiving? It seems to have just sneaked up this year. By looking at all the stores, it's seems we've skipped Thanksgiving and it's already Christmas. Feel the same way?
One good thing about Thanksgiving approaching is the tree lighting festival at the Shops at Legacy. Yep, this Sunday, Nov 18 @ 3 PM. If you haven't been you need to go, fun for all the family and a nice way to spend with guests. Eat, Drink, Shop and be Merry!

Excellent Walking Path around the Lake
If you'd like a new place to walk besides your neighborhood, The Shops at
Legacy provides a nice escape. Right across from the Marriott Hotel is a
fantastic lake filled with fish, turtles and lots of birds. Nice place to relax, eat
a bite or walk the dog. You can also sunbathe on the grass if you like. Best of
all it's walking distance to all shopping and restaurants. Great place to contemplate
your next move.

Knock Out Roses

What a brilliant day! Whatever you're doing. Everything is Spring Green. If you have your home on the market winter pictures need to be replaced. Properties need to look pretty and perfect, or close to it. Landscaping adds so much value to a property and knock out roses are a great addition. Pest and drought resistant, Bloom all summer long and come in single or doubles, red or pink. Go for it!

Not only is the photograph awesome, this is a fantastic idea for built in wine storage. I bet you could make this a wine cooler too. Nice idea for a contemporary built in as a piece of art as well as being functional. What do you think?

Plano Winter Snowscape in 2010

Do you remember this from last year? I think I'd rather have this than the bone chilling cold.
It does get old, real quick....and yes, us Texans do not do well in cold. Just too dang spoiled.
Enjoy the weekend, stay warm and remember there are still lots of open houses out there, check out the link to the right.

1967 Live Oak
Yesterday I was down in Dallas for a new listing and I happened to swing by a place I use to call home. I'm sure you've done the same thing, drive by or think about your past and where you grew up. My parents planted this beautiful Live Oak as a twig in 1967. It certainly makes you feel good knowing that excellent home owners have taken such great care of a property and a very special tree. That was 43 years ago! Any idea how much that tree adds to your property value? It's the best tree on the block! Anyway, enjoy the weather and there are plenty of open houses if the mood strikes.

Cooler Weather...

Have you been outside today? Wow, perfect day, that's why we live in North Texas...Wind has changed, light has changed and you can tell we've broken the heat wave. Plano Homes and Land wishes you a safe and relaxing holiday. There aren't very many open houses this weekend but I'm sure if you want to see one a seller would be more than accommodating. :)

NO Pot Holes in Plano
When I heard of the Dallas motorcycle crashing because of a pot hole during Obama's visit last week; it made me think how lucky we are in Plano to have great city services. They are efficient and customer service driven and we have a clean city. That's been my experience anyway. Seriously, how long has Dallas been trying to fix pot holes on the streets? Decades? Beside other Fortune 500 companies that help with the Plano tax base, the two below are part of the Legacy Corporate Campuses and most people would not even know they are headquartered in Plano, Texas.

Need A Break from the Heat?
Remember... way back when we had bone chilling temps. I don't know about you but I think I'd rather have the heat. Keep in mind things will start cooling in about a month...in the meantime enjoy the last few weeks before school starts, take a look at this photo to cool yourself down because you certainly aren't going to find relief in your pool, more like bath water till the end of August...it's that way every year!

Lakeside on Preston - Private Residential Park

The Willow Bend Area is named from the Willow trees you see growing next to the lakes in many luxury subdivisions. Above is a photo from Lakeside on Preston, an upscale neighborhood built around lakes, parks, greenbelts and more. It's one of the more established neighborhoods in the heart of West Plano. Enjoy your weekend and check out the open houses to the right, and stay cool.

Summer West Plano Pics
If you've lived here any amount of time you know this time of year is usually scalding hot and everything is yellow or brown or dead! This year is unique because we had our spring rains late, really late. While it's made everything green the humidity is like Houston, steaming hot, so keep the AC's cranked and enjoy the green. Pics below are in two luxury West Plano neighborhoods, Creeks of Willow Bend and Willow Bend Lakes.

Happy Saturday!
You'll see horses all over West Plano. There isn't much land left but there are pockets of undeveloped property that can be rezoned or is agricultural. Plano has urban, suburban & rural all in one city and only 20 miles north of Dallas. Best of all worlds! Plus newer homes and great schools, no wonder folks are moving here. Enjoy the weekend and don't forget to check the open houses link on the right sidebar under Plano Property Portal.

The 3 Way Water Fountain

I walk Arbor Hills Nature Preserve several times a week and always admire the improvements to the park. Have you ever seen another water fountain like this? It takes care of our four legged friends and the whole family as well. There is a pedal at the base to get the water going for Fido. Very convenient indeed! Know of any others?

The Institute for Law Enforcement Administration
Did you know that West Plano has a non-profit educational center to enhance professional development of police leaders at all levels? I drive by it all the time and always have admired the architecture and landscaping. It's a premier learning center for law enforcement and attracts executives, managers and supervisors from all over the country. Who knew? Do you feel safer? The regal and stoic building is located in the vicinity of SMU at Legacy just east of The Shops and the address is 5201 Democracy Drive. Sounds like justice to me.

Visit the Horses at Spring Creek & Tennyson

Well, I don't need to tell you how great the weather has been! This is the first year in a long time that we've missed the dangerous spring storms, so far....usually by the middle of the month and the Byron Nelson we'll be clear. The ponies above reside at one of the Legacy Corporations off Tennyson. You can visit or feed them anytime and they do expect it. You can also see Longhorn steers just east of the pretty ponies roaming and laying around. Just a part of Plano and you won't see it in Dallas. Enjoy the weekend and Happy Mothers Day to all. Not too many open houses this weekend due to hanging out with Mom.

Public Parks - Green Space in every neighborhood

One thing about living in Plano is there are tons of public parks. Common questions in the house hunt process is:
- Where can my children play?
- Where can I walk the dog?
Besides your back yard and pool, chances are there is close access to a public park. There are also private parks in many subdivisions that are just for residents. Some are natural with lakes, fountains and lush landscaping and some have community pools and play grounds. Practically any neighborhood you choose in Plano will be near to a public or private park. And that's a good thing! Above is a photo of Coyote Creek Park in Glenhollow Estates. There is a creek and I hope there aren't any coyotes...

Spring Time in West Plano
It's Friday once again and we made it through another week, a little cloudy but we need the rain. I try to show different neighborhoods and local photos of the area so you don't think we're just flat land in Plano and lots of trucks. The truck part is true. Anyway, enjoy the photos and check the open house link to the right for a tour this weekend.

Spring Photos & Open Houses
You know I was thinking how pretty it's been and what a cold winter we've had. No major spring storms yet...perhaps our winter was so cold we're going to bypass our usual volatile weather this time of year. The photos are from The Shops at Legacy, just one of the many parks and scenic places to visit in Plano. Here's to more spring weather and to nothing more severe. This weekend is National Open House and it's on - right now - all over Dallas, this weekend will be the most open houses you'll ever see, take advantage of the opens and enjoy the fine weather, the turtles certainly are!

Are we in for another round? What a cold winter this has been. I would much rather have this than
an ice storm....this photo was taken a couple weeks ago at one of Legacy corporate campuses.

Lakeside Market Holiday Tree

You folks that are relocating might wonder what the weather is like in North Texas this time of year.
Yesterday was upper 60's and absolutely gorgeous, mild warm wind. The photo captures the holiday
tree at Lakeside Market, another upscale shopping venue just south of the Shops at Legacy in West
Plano. The center is located adjacent to the community of Lakeside, an enclave of luxury custom
homes and parks.

Pumpkin Paradise

I know living in Plano you might not get to much farther South of LBJ, but the Dallas Arboretum is worth the trip. Located in the White Rock Lake Area off of Garland Road, it's one of the places that is really pretty and educational to visit. Always seasonal and guess what? Santa will be visiting Dec. 5th and 6th. Nice way to start the holidays and relax a little before it gets crazy.

This was taken from 1999 McKinney Lofts, started late Friday afternoon and this was Saturday evening.

Finally Some Sunshine...
I don't have to tell you that the last 12 days of rain and Seattle-like weather can put a damper on things. Especially real estate, when trying to view homes. Well, the sun poked its head out today along with a coyote roaming it's way around The Hills at Prestonwood. If you're playing a few rounds of golf tonight, beware. He was too quick and running scared to get a photo. Anyway, it's nice to see the sun.

This might be the best looking smoker I've seen. And how appropriate for a Texas griller. This one belongs to Woody's Smokehouse on the way to Houston off 45. You can see their serious about their barbecue and have a smoking gun to prove it. You don't get any more Texas than this!

Normandy Estates Fountain

You can always use another fountain. Especially when it's pushing 100 plus again today. This is Normandy Estates newest jewel to the development. The fountain and lake view will command more dollar per lot, of course, or that's the thinking at least. Seriously, if you haven't driven in the development you need to. Homes are being built and gates are being put in place. Just a stones throw from the Shops at Legacy at Tennyson and Spring Creek. Property and lot listings are here. If your going to be out and about this weekend - it's suppose to be cooler on Sunday - and there are over 30 open houses to preview, check out the link to the right and stay cool!
